A mid morning field recording on 05 march 2021 in our rural garden. There is a road at the side of the garden but i have removed what i could hear of the few cars that passed by. Also removed sounds of a gate and doors opening and closing. There was a slight breeze that a wind sock didn't entirely prevent coming through as wind noise. I have cut most of this.

Coffee at the cottage. Started a olympus ls-10 + cheap old sony microphone, then proceeded to load the auto-drip coffee machine with coffee grounds, 4 cups of water and hit the brew button. Then, took out the old toaster, put a leftover waffle from yesterday's breakfast in, and toasted while the coffee was brewing. Various sounds accompanied with this ritual. . . Coffee maker and toaster sounds. Unscrewing and replacing the top to the nutella jar. Squeaky old oak floors of this 90 year old house making noise while i walk around. Water running, old clock on the wall ticking etc.

A bunch of weird and hopefully interesting noises. Created using the korg electribe 2 synthesis engine with alot of modulations and asynchron patterns. Post-processing in cubase. It's always nice to hear what projects you use these sounds for. Let me know. ;-). One more thing. Maybe check out my links, perhaps you'll find something you like. :o).

Recorded from my apartment, second floor. This starts with a few bolts of lightning during the end of a typical early summer afternoon and ends up on a pretty huge thunderstorm including hail. I wish i could have recorded more but the storm was getting so important, i had to close my window.

This recording was made in the afternoon during a rainshower under my carport in louisiana. The rain is striking three different surfaces in this track: cement, roofing and plantlife. Now, i'm no pro, nor is my equipment (olympus ws-310m w/ built in mic), so discerning these different sounds is difficult. You can hear the dripping from rain: fast drip in the background of this track. However slight, there is also a noticeable electronic note which is simultaneous with the water striking these surfaces. You can also hear slight rustling sounds that could be wind or my shirt moving near the mic (i was wearing the device on a lanyard). The file is wav, recorded in stereo at 16 bit at 44. 1mhz.

Brownian noise sounding like a flying plane at 3×10^4 feet above the earth. . . I created that in audacity! final peak amplitude: 0. 75000 (linear) -2. 49877 db. I applied a bunch of filter curves to make this 90 second loop, normalized to 75% volume. I started with 120 seconds, then made it 90 seconds. Estimated start pitch: d2 (75. 000 hz). Because of the 1024 mb limit, i can't upload the 108-minute version (2 channels, 24-bit, 48000 hz costs 1. 74 gib). Sorry. The final sample rate is 48000 hz, 24-bit wav. I created this myself in audacity 3. 1. 3, so no need to attribute! :). Note: this sounds like it's the 2370 screen ;o).

Underwater [loop] amb. Update: i have decided to release this sfx for free, public domain. Enjoy! :). Please like and share!. A loop-able ambiance of being submerged in water for your underwater needs. This one was particularly difficult to process as i had to layer many scuba diving sounds in one order to get this effect. My housemates are horny all the time and always shagging. I had to soundproof their bedroom to try and contain all the noise from the incredible orgasms they were having. One day they let me record them in the act as i placed a couple of sm58s in the room in an attempt to capture their intense climax; this one being a deeply satisfying snippet full of moaning pleasure inside the exquisite sounds of true love & fucking.

Picture yourself being abducted by a highly advanced alien race, you're trapped inside one of their crafts, being far far away from earth at this point, i guess this is a soundscape that reminds me of it, created by experimenting with various free plugins including dtblkfx and thesis2b, both amazing tools on their own, more than capable of giving you glitchy squelchy hi-tech sounds.

This is a 4 mic recording taken inside a pachinko parlor in akasaka, tokyo. There are so many loud machines and the background music is so loud that you can hardly make out individual sounds and the entire space is just a wash of noise. If you listen closely to this one you can hear some of the individual balls dropping. (when you play pachinko, you win metal balls which can be exchanged for cash later. ).

A rumble of thunder from a storm over 50 miles away over the irish sea from an mcs during july 2016. The atmospheric conditions of that night, along with the lack of other noise allowed sounds to be heard much further than they normally would. The main reason was likely due to a strong temperature inversion close to the ground. Recorded with zoom h4n onboard mics.

Night storm in evosmo-thessaloniki (part 1) with more than 30 lightning strikes and thunders in a period of 20 minutes. The recording was made by me with the zoom handy recorder h2 (open window of my apartment). Rain & distant thunder around 8pm in warren, michigan (suburb of detroit). Recorded on a zoom h1n. Some faint traffic sounds & a bit of white noise coming from an air-conditioner unit. Zoom h1n was placed in my porch light compartment about 2 feet below our rain gutter. Most of the original hour long recording was ruined due to wind gust, but i edited it down to the only continuous 11 minutes without the gust of wind.

The user gorgoroth6669 posted an awesome recording of some wolves, somewhere in norge. Http://www. Freesound. Org/people/gorgoroth6669/sounds/76456/. I needed it mono, but the upload was stereo. So, in the process of rendering a mono version. . . I decided to tinker. There's high & low pass filtering as well as a 4 band eq applied. Seems to have significantly reduced the noise. I also forced zero crossings :]. Figured i'd post in case anyone can make use of it√. Takk gorgoroth6669!.

A complete trip on métro (subway) line 9 of the paris subway system, from the alma-marceau station to the havre-caumartin station. Starts with descent into the métro station and ends climbing up the steps back out at the destination. One train is allowed to pass, at about the 1-minute mark, as we wait on the platform, and an announcement giving the times for the next trains can be heard. The ride on the following train begins at around the 2-minute mark. There are two loud sounds between about 9:10 and 9:20 and some loud low-frequency wind noise at around 10:40 (as we leave the métro station and return outside), so beware. Recording with zoom h4n, originally 96 khz/24 bits, uploaded as mp3 320 kbps because the wav was so big (almost 500 mb).

This is one coqui singing alone. The file was remasterize to eliminate other insects and noise sounds. Was recorded in the west of puerto rico island in the caribbean on june 19, 2022. A curiosity not too many people notice is that the individuals and species sing at different hours of the night and are affected by temperature and humidity. Rain increments the volume and intensity of frequency of the different species, some days one to 3 species can sing. Others you can hear up to 6 species in conjunction with other types of none arboreus frogs.

Friday. Random. Why this madness? answer: i have patched s/h (sample and hold) random to doepfer a-160 clock divider and that affects the a-161. For the sake of it i patched one of the gates to the ladik r-110 rnd t/g (random trigger and gate). Result much more randomness than i can use. I can tell you that there is a lot of blinking diodes :-) sounds from doepfer a-110 and 2hp osc and sampler soundmachines ul1uloop.

Automated/computer controlled plasma cutting torch. Re-processed from open source wikipedia video courtesy of metaveld wijchen bv. As a courtesy, i appreciate it but i do ask people to always credit freesound. Org and if their project ever sees any kind of profit to please consider making a donation to the website. I made a waveshaper in the js audio language that applies random math operations to the signal. The original signal is liteon's (of reaper forums) lorenz attractor synth, which is then run through the waveshaper, then that signal controls the pitch of a soundwave. Later on i waveshape the resulting soundwave but i don't think it has the best results (dc offset city). A lot of the cooler sounds/series of pitches are made by changing the number of operations on the fly, or shuffling a new set of operations for the waveshaper to use.

Created and formatted for the make noise morphagene, this reel is divided into three sections with like sounds clustered together for ease of navigation. The first group of splices are glitchy, percussive, experimental, modular snippets. The middle third consists of melodic and chordal washes. The final cluster is a series of field recordings taken from a recent trip to beirut, lebanon, with a cut up inspired splice at the very end. Collectively, i hope this sonic material will inspire the user to mangle, manipulate, and deconstruct to taste.

A sample from a quick flight that i took with a friend on september 8th, 2015. Audio was recorded with a zoom h5. You can hear the engine start, then we idle on the runway for a bit, and you'll hear us make a proper takeoff at about 13:30. After that it generally sounds the same. You'll hear when i crank the level down after takeoff, but you'll be able to easily compensate for it if you're serious about needing sustained flight noise for a small plane. The plane was a 1964 cessna 172e and were flying around vancouver, bc.

This is a pack of 92 acoustic percussion samples, made from various instruments sitting unused at my house, djembes, darabouka, maracas, composite pipe, pvc, cardboard and wooden scraps, they are all simply recorded with a cheap sm57 clone from t. Bone using ardour, there is no special editing made except for som noise removal in audacity. I needed a repository of percussive short decay organic sounds for my own projects so i made this pack, feel free to use without mentioning me, although i'm always happy when people send me links of their creations.

I decided to experiment with a metal slinky, with the intention of creating some science-fiction sounds. Here is a string out of what could potentially be used as "laser gun shots". There are a variety of individual shots, and at the latter-half of the clip i attempted to create a cross-fire gun fight. Some editing, including noise reduction may improve what i've done here. *recorded on may 09, 2021 using a sennheiser shotgun mic and a zoom h4n pro (and a shower, of course).

Around 2010, i circuit-bent a motorola cellphone and added a control surface to control the bends. Then i added an atari paddlewheel so its big potentiometer could be used to do pitchbends, and the result is an instrument i called the "sonic electronic ball breaker". It's got knives, quarterstaves, thor's lightning, sharp sticks, nuclear machineshotguns, and even some claws that come out to jab 'em. In this sample i'm going through and playing with the controls to see what i get. These sounds are pretty abrasive, but they work well when run through a bunch of effects.

Inserting, reading, launching a program, and ejecting a dvd-r in a usb disc drive (repackaged "hp dvdram gu90n" laptop drive) with the occasional rumble of a 2tb 7200rpm internal hard drive (in an enclosure) and mouse clicks. This is the audible annunciation found at all intersections with traffic lights in paris, france. It announces the condition of the traffic lights for pedestrians who are blind or with impaired vision. The annunciation is turned on by pressing a button on the traffic light pole. When the crosswalk sign is red (do not cross), the recorded annunciation is always "rouge piéton" ("red light, pedestrian"), followed by the name of the street that the crosswalk crosses (in this case "rue d'antin," the quiet side street where i recorded this). This repeats over and over until the crosswalk changes to green, at which point there is a two-second trill tone followed by a repeating bell tone. The bell tone is one bell, followed by two bells, repeated four times, followed by a very brief pause, and then the sequence is repeated again. This continues until the crosswalk changes back to red, at which point the "rouge piéton" message resumes. The annunciation continues for at least one cycle of the traffic lights and then stops, unless the button is pressed again. The audio quality of the annunciation is very poor even in real life (it sounds like a wax cylinder recording or something), and can be difficult to understand. This recording accurately captures the poor quality of the annunciation. The volume of the annunciation is also adjusted dynamically based on ambient noise, so there is a slight change in volume on this recording as the system apparently reacts to noise from traffic or something. There is a weak background noise that sounds like some sort of machine, but it wasn't coming from the traffic light and i don't know the source. The recording starts with the crosswalk red, then at about 18. 3 seconds it changes to green, then it changes back to red at about 53 seconds. A car passes at around 48 seconds. Recorded with a zoom h4n, stereo 96 khz / 24 bits, built-in mics, from about ten inches below the tiny speaker in the crosswalk sign housing.

This was recorded in the centre of oxford, near the junction between broad street and turl street, on 23rd february 2013. I was facing west along broad street with turl street, and the pavement, to my left. There are many different sounds on this recording including bikes being parked (i was standing near a bike rack) and ridden, cars lurking for a parking space, dropping people off and turning round (broad street has a car park in the middle of it), plenty of different people walking past and talking, and a big issue seller. There is the occasional bit of wind noise, but not as much as i'd feared (luckily the wind was behind me). Recorded with a marantz pmd661 with built-in microphones.

A peaceful, quiet soundscape recorded in the midwest during covid-19. This includes the nice, soft, gentle song of crickets during the midday. Plus, about halfway through, one of my favorite sounds--even though it is man-made, that of a propeller airplane droning on through the bright, breezy saturday. Recording made on saturday may 9th, 2020 at 3pm in the afternoon. It was made in short grass just off of an asphalt trail, running through a beautiful woods at a very popular state park in illinois. Because of the covid-19 shutdown, the background noise of cars was almost nonexistent. Plus, the grass in the picnic area which surrounded the asphalt trail had not been mowed in a while, which added a nice touch of wild to the place. Equipment: sony pcmd100. Enjoy !.

Originally made for the disquiet junto project 0433: "kit bits: create a kit’s worth of percussion samples. ". I used 1. Recordings with a telephone coil microphone recording sounds from an external blu ray drive and a smartphone (telephone coil recorded via behringer xenyx q1202 usb mixer, line-in) and 2. Random recordings from a soma ether device (recorded with zoom h1n, line-in). In these recordings i picked up those areas which i though to be useful for a drum kit, just as i would do it for myself. This track contains all samples in no special order in one file. All samples my own, released into cc0 public domain. Would be nice to hear if someone does something with it. A close up recording of an overheating usb slot-loading cd/dvd drive that repeatedly tries to spin up, but fails and makes some clicking noises. Note on low frequency sounds: i recorded this with a zoom h1n recorder at about 2cm distance from the drive slot. I held the recorder in my hand and rested my hand on the surface the cd drive was resting on, so there is somewhat of a mechanical connection between the drive's vibrations and the recorder. I believe this led to the low frequency parts of the recording. About halfway through the recording, i lifted the drive up with my other hand and held it at a 30degree angle to the surface and recorder. As you can hear in the recording, this made it spin up a little longer before failing and spinning back down.

This sounds as if it were staged by hollywood, but it actually did happen, i swear! birds chirp away to set the scene, but a beefy thunder roll intrudes. Soon after, raindrops begin to fall as if on cue. Theres a little handling noise click in the begining that is easy to crop out if you like. The recording is unedited. At 1:35 i move the mics closer to the deck so you can hear the splashing. At about at 3:10 i you’ll hear a different timbre as i move away from the rain and under an awning. About 3:45 the rain settles down and the birds start chirping again. Hopefully there are some useful segments in here. Recorded with a dead cat on a tascam dr-05 at 48khz 24 bit, then compressed with “lame --preset insane --scale 10” to make up for the low gain i used (i was afraid a thunderclap would engage the limiter). Cheers.

Recorded with tascam dr-07mkii. While on holiday staying in a country cottage near some cow fields, there was a mother cow and what must have been her 2 calves which had been put into separate fields either side of a road. This was obviously pretty distressing for the cows and so they were constantly mooing at each other and being the kind of guy i am, of course i recorded it!. I have done as much as i can to reduce wind and other background noises (the windshield i have for my dr-07 doesn't seem to do a lot except make it look like it's got a 70s afro) and have trimmed all the cow sounds out and put them together into this one file. Some are better than others, it was hard to know which cow was gonna make a noise next. Free to use for anything, if you use it, would be cool if you let us know where in the comments, be interesting to see where they end up :).

Formatted for use in the make noise morphagene by todd barton. Sounds from "music and poetry of the kesh". "all samples have been remastered from the master 8-channel recording sessions of 1984. It has been fun and fascinating "remixing" them in the morphagene. " - todd. Music and poetry of the kesh is the documentation of an invented pacific coast peoples from a far distant time, and the soundtrack of famed science fiction author, ursula k. Le guin’s always coming home. In the novel, the story of stone telling, a young woman of the kesh, is woven within a larger anthropological folklore and fantasy. The ways of the kesh were originally presented in 1985 as a five hundred plus page book accompanied with illustrations of instruments and tools, maps, a glossary of terms, recipes, poems, an alphabet (le guin’s conlang, so she could write non-english lyrics), and with early editions, a cassette of “field recordings” and indigenous song. Le guin wanted to hear the people she’d imagined; she embarked on an elaborate process with her friend todd barton to invoke their spirit and tradition. Full album available here:.
